Lily was raised in a home as a pet pig and the people who she shared her life with loved her very much. Unfortunately her humans did not realize that municipal bylaws prevented them from keeping what was classified as a “farm animal” in the area that they lived. Their municipal animal control officer gave them an order – either find her a new home or the township would remove her. Her humans called Wishing Well Sanctuary in desperation and we agreed to help, knowing that, had she been removed, she could have been purchased by someone who would have slaughtered her for meat.
Lily had always lived in a human home was initially quite overwhelmed by life in a farm-type environment, but became firm friends with Wilbur, who was a big help in relieving her fear.
